How Protein Builds New Muscle?

After we make a muscle or group of muscles work harder than they are used to, small microfibers in our muscles break. If overdone or overtrained, our muscles can become too broken down and in this state of disrepair could lead to injury if we do not give it adequate recovery time before doing the same exercises or activities again. When these muscles are not fully recovered, they are also weaker thus putting more pressure on tendons and ligaments when you train to soon again because of the surrounding muscle not being as supportive.

There are 3 things that help strengthen, tone and build muscle:

1. breaking down of muscle tissue,

2. a balanced diet,

3. deep rest and recovery.

Our muscle is made up of protein, but when worked hard can break down small muscle fibers into amino acids that we can burn as energy. Pretty much the reverse of this happens when we eat protein. Our dietary protein breaks down into amino acids, that your body will absorb and use to rebuild broken down muscle/ protein which is in effect building new muscle that is built back stronger then it was before.

If you want to build strength, endurance, and shape, eat quality proteins

I like to think of the proteins that we eat as being a process where our body takes the protein and converts it into amino acid patch paint to make muscular repairs throughout the body. Once this amino patch paint adheres onto the broken-down muscle, it becomes new muscle helping us to create a younger muscle environment that is toned and stronger.

One of my favorite sources of protein is the egg. Other good sources of protein come from a variety of meats, (fish, chicken, occasional red meat) and dairy along with cholesterol lowering protein foods such as beans, lentils, nuts and seeds. With protein being the building block for new muscle, we need to make sure the protein we eat is quality material!

New muscle means younger muscle and the action of toning this muscle helps strengthen bones while at the same time shaping the body, toning the body, and bringing back mobility as we get older that we thought was a disappearing act…

Isn’t it awesome that we can do a remodeling of our body, health and mobility no matter what our age?
